Guatemala Guided Saltwater Fly-fishing Trips

Whether you’re new to saltwater, your previous experience was strictly inshore, you’re a little intimidated by bluewater, or want to improve your saltwater fly-fishing techniques, then our guided fly-fishing may be ideally suited to you.

All our Below-the-Border guides share a passion for fly-fishing and big fish in bluewater.  Experienced in every aspect of the trips we offer, they will make the difference between an OK trip and the trip of a lifetime.

Beginning the day you arrive, our guide will check your tackle, review techniques and discuss your personal objectives of the trip.  He will give you a complete overview of your trip, schedule and what you can expect during the adventure. Additionally, he’ll answer your questions regarding the hotel, transfers, tipping and any other concerns.

Each morning he will meet you at breakfast about 6:30 and review the day’s activities; then gather you, your gear and depart for the marina which is approximately 20 minutes from the hotel. There, you will board your cruiser and head out for the day’s fishing.  Everything is already loaded on the boat: lunches, drinks and even the rigged baits needed for teasing are included.

As you head to sea, our guide will assist you in rigging your tackle and making certain you’ve selected that ever-important first fly to begin the day. He will offer insight into sailfish behavior, presentation and fish-fighting techniques; a general overview of pursuing sailfish on the fly.

If you have special goals you would like to achieve, now’s a good time to discuss them with the guide.  Regardless of what it is, he will make every effort to help you fulfill your bluewater flyrod dreams.

If some in your group need extra instruction, have never fished in saltwater or are just getting started, the guide will be happy to work with them.  From beginners to seasoned pros, our guides can make your trip a more pleasurable experience.

When you return to the dock in the afternoon between 3:30 and 4:00, your transfer will be waiting to whisk you back to your hotel for a quick nap and maybe a cocktail before the guide meets you for dinner at 6:30-7:00 and reviews the day’s events.

On the final evening of your trip, your guide will arrange the time of your transfer for departure to the airport the next morning, allowing you plenty of time to meet your departing flight.
